Borealis promotes sustainable solutions for water and waste water systems at ACCADUEO H2O 2012

Apr 20, 2012

Borealis, a leading provider of chemical and innovative plastics solutions, invites the water industry to embrace real opportunities for sustainable water preservation at the ACCADUEO H2O exhibition in Ferrara, Italy from May 23-25, 2012.

In Hall 5, Stand 62-63, Borealis will demonstrate the positive contribution of its cutting-edge pipe materials to creating water and waste water systems that last for generations; giving utilities and municipalities the chance both to think long-term and be cost-efficient in preserving water supplies.

BorSafe™ polyethylene (PE) for drinking water distribution and BorECO™ polypropylene (PP) for sewage pipes offer durability and reliability to provide pipe systems with a long, low maintenance life. In addition they support fast, efficient installation using the latest techniques for minimal environmental disruption and cost reductions.

Products in the spotlight at H2O include:
  • BorSafe™ LS-H - PE-100 pipe material ensures very high resistance to slow crack growth and allows high quality welds between pipe sections. This contributes to the reliability and longevity of drinking water distribution systems. It also allows pipe installation companies to use the latest high-speed, lower-cost techniques such as sandless bedding and no-dig installation without fear of the pipe being damaged during installation or in use.
  • BorECO™ BA415 E and BorECO™ BA2000 - Lightweight PP materials which offer excellent resistance to corrosion, abrasion and chemicals together with superior impact resistance. They allow for the production of pipes with long-term durability thereby contributing to the protection of the environment through leakage prevention.

Borealis will also highlight the on-going success of its Water for the World™ initiative aimed at raising awareness of and addressing the global water challenge. To date, the pioneering program has reached more than 260,000 people around the world. Water for the World recently co-sponsored an independent study into water management in Italy, with findings highlighting the potential to yield savings of up to EUR 17 billion over a 30 year period through an overhaul of agricultural water supply in the country.

“Access to clean water and sanitation is a global challenge,” comments Jane Toogood, Borealis Vice President Business Unit Pipe. “Adopting a more sustainable approach to supply, distribution and disposal is a vital element in solving this challenge. When choosing pipes, not only the initial price but also installation costs and expected durability should be considered for a full life cycle assessment; Borealis’ PE and PP materials deliver sustainable solutions to the industry. We are pleased to present their innovative capabilities to the Italian water industry at the influential ACCADUEO H2O event.”
