Industry focus at World Water Week

May 24, 2007

The plastic pipe industry will be looking closely at this year's World Water Week in Stockholm. A highly appropriate theme for the industry has been chosen namely, Progress and Prospects on Water: Striving for Sustainability in a Changing World.

The event is to be held 12 – 18 August in the Stockholm City Conference Centre and is expected to generate considerable newsprint given the very real and foreseen effects of water stress. High-level speakers from the global political, economic and academic world will address the opening conference. Work shops, panel and plenary sessions are also planned for what is the world's leading meeting place for capacity-building, partnership-building and follow-up on the implementation of international processes and programmes in water and development.

Dr. David Walton from Borouge marketing explains: “World Water Week is an excellent opportunity to get feedback from the many NGO's and agencies that are involved with the work of water development. The event serves as a worthwhile platform for industry. For instance, a workshop organised by the World Business Council will be of particular interest given some innovative new tools that they have developed to promote industry participation in water management development.”

Robin Bresser marketing manager for Borouge will also be presenting a paper that will focus on the innovative contribution made by plastic pipe technology to the world of water.
