Pennsylvania American Water completes $ 230,000 upgrade to Abington Water System

In Glenburn Township, Pennsylvania American Water replaced nearly 1,600 feet of four-inch water main along Waterford Road with new eight-inch ductile iron pipe. In Clarks Summit, the company replaced nearly 600 feet of four-inch water main, dating back to the early 1900s, with eight-inch pipe along Crestwood Avenue.

Construction started in May, and Pennsylvania American Water expected to complete final paving restoration in late July.

"We analyze the distribution system each year to determine areas where our investment will most improve water quality and service for customers," said Don Kessler, manager of field operations, Pennsylvania American Water. "Projects are prioritized based on a number of factors, including the need to handle increasing demand, the pipe’s age and history of main breaks or service interruptions."
