UNITRACC cooperates with Bochum University of Applied Sciences - Test phase becomes confirmed cooperation

"Besides using UNITRACC in the lecture, with their personal user accounts the students also access the platform to prepare and reinforce the lecture as well as for project work," Prof. Dr.-Ing. Nolting explains. "The platform is very extensive and outstandingly illustrated. The students like it, too," continuing his positive feedback.

The cooperation between UNITRACC and Bochum University of Applied Sciences arose from a test phase in 2006. Then the lecturers of the "Urban Water Management" course together with their students agreed to put the UNITRACC area "Learning" and the general offer of the platform through the acid test. UNITRACC's contents were able to convince both sides and the idea of using the platform regularly in their lectures emerged.

Additionally, for the running winter semester 2007/2008 the students' UNITRACC user fees are borne by the university - financed from the student fees that are raised by the university. "The students themselves decided that," underlines Prof. Nolting.

Dipl.-Ing. Robert Stein, CEO of Knowledge Factory GmbH, the company that runs UNITRACC, considers the cooperation with the Bochum University of Applied Science a great benefit for the platform: "Students, who were able to get to know UNITRACC in detail at university, take their experiences into the businesses and municipalities after finishing university. This is why we definitely consider this cooperation a multiplier."

Dipl.-Ing. Martina Buschmann, head of the editorial department of UNITRACC, agrees by regarding the proximity to universities also as proximity to research. This ensured that the contents represented state-of-the-art research and UNITRACC stayed up-to-date.

"Furthermore, the use of UNITRACC in academic teaching generates important feedback for us. The feedback given by students and lecturers using UNITRACC tell us about the effectiveness, quality and consistency of the teaching and learning material on UNITRACC," Ms Buschmann stresses.

Besides the Bochum University of Applied Sciences, the Georg-Simon-Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg also makes use of UNITRACC to enhance their lectures in the "Urban Water Management" course.
